ULTIDESK Xtreme Standing Desk Review
ULTIDESK Xtreme Standing Desk is Ulti’s high-end standing desk. Ulti entered the standing desk market with its first desk, the ULTIDESK Evolution Standing Desk, in January 2024.
Two months later, they introduced their second standing desk, ULTIDESK Xtreme Standing Desk, which boosts dual motors, rear-hinged cover, RGB light strip, 15° front slope, and OLED handset controller with RGB Backlight.
The desk comes in two lengths (1.4 m and 1.6 m), each in two finishes (Black and Walnut MDF). MDF stands for Medium-Density Fibreboard.
1.4 m retails for S$799, while the 1.6 m retails for S$849. There is no difference in price for finishes. During double-digit sales days, the prices can go as low as S$578 and S$628, respectively. Making it even more value for money.
I got the ULTIDESK Xtreme Standing Desk as a review unit and chose 1.6 m in Black.
Installation
Installation is an additional S$50. It comes in two boxes. The first box contains the tabletop, and the second is the table frame.
It takes about two men and 30 minutes to set up your table. They started by attaching the frame to the tabletop.
They were followed by the two three-column legs to the frame.
Lastly, they will wire everything up.
The installers’ cable management skills could improve, especially in cable routing.
The table includes six self-adhesive cable straps so you can route it yourself.
Apart from the cable management, the installer should be more careful when attaching the motor tray, as the track is bent on one side. I have to redo the process for this side to ensure that the tray fits nicely.
Usage
ULTIDESK Xtreme Standing Desk comes with two memory positions. I used 1 for sitting and 2 for standing.
The headset controller has five buttons, features an OLED screen, and has RGB lighting.
Pressing and holding the M button will bring you to the manual, where you can choose and configure five items:
- Sedentary Reminder: Reminder when it is time for you to stand up.
- Height Limit: Minimum and maximum the table can adjust itself to.
- Lock/Unlock Handset: Lock and unlock the handset so it does not get accidental touches.
- Sedentary Reminder Vibration Mode: This sets the vibration mode for the Sedentary Reminder.
- Light: This setting allows you to configure six light colors and seven light modes.
Here is the list of light color and mode combinations:
- Solid: Single Color
- Gradient Effect: Single Color
- Breathing: Single Color
- Breathing: Multiple Colors
- Single Button: Illuminate Handset
- Multiple Buttons: Illuminate Handset
- Gradient Effect: Multiple Colors
I chose the Gradient Effect: Multiple Colors because it looks the nicest to me.
Rear-hinged Cover
The rear-hinged cover is at the back of the table, where you can access the full-length cable Management tray below it.
The full-length cable management tray is my favorite feature of this table. It makes cable management so easy and neat above the surface.
It hangs from the table frame with four hooks, making it easily removable.
You can hide all the unsightly cable mess on the tray, which the rear-hinged cover will cover.
RGB Light Strip
The RGB light strip shines through the opening of the rear-hinged cover so you can see it from the front.
Here are some shots of the RGB lighting effect in different settings.
Magnetic Cable Management Track
Right before the rear-hinged cover is the Magnetic Cable Management Track.
The track is not glued or screwed to the table. Instead, it is attached by five magnets screwed to the table.
Because magnets hold it together, it might move out of place, especially when installing a monitor arm on the table where greater force is used on the table.
Similarly, the RGB light strip is also not glued or screwed to the table. It is just tucked below the track. So, it does move together with the track.
After installing the monitor arm, you might need to adjust the track and the light strip back to their place.
Four Cable Management Anchors are included with the table. I wish it came in different sizes because I have a thick power cable that is too big for the anchor.
Two strong magnets are on each anchor to hold your cable neatly on the track.
Table Top
The table top has a textured-like material instead of a smooth finish. Fingerprints, and scratches will not be noticeable on it, which is a good thing.
Unlike Secret Lab’s Magnus, where the whole table top is metal, ULTIDESK Xtreme Standing Desk only has the top portion of it being magnetic.
ULTIDESK Xtreme Standing Desk’s way has two advantages. The table top is lighter, so the motor doesn’t need to overwork, and the price is lower due to cheaper material and lower shipping costs.
Of course, the disadvantage is that there is only a fixed area where you can use the magnets.
One of the underrated features of the table is the 15° slope at the front. Though you cannot clamp anything on the slop area since it is not a flat surface.
I unknowingly rest my hand on it while I type since my gaming keyboard doesn’t come with a palm rest. It is ergonomic and comfortable as it provides my wrist with support.
Noise Level
The noise level when the table moves up or down is in a similar range to all the standing desks I have tested.
In my room, with windows open, the ambient noise level is about 51 dB.
When the table moves, it just increases by about 4.5 dB to approximately 55.5 dB. The dual motor is very quiet.
Conclusion
The ULTIDESK Xtreme Standing Desk offers an impressive range of user-friendly features at an affordable price without compromising quality.
The RGB light strip adds ambiance when gaming, while the full-length cable management tray hides all your messy cables.
The table top’s textured material, magnetic feature, and 15-degree slope further enhance the user-friendly nature of this standing desk, providing an ergonomic advantage and reducing the visibility of fingerprints, and scratches.
Of course, there is still room for improvement, such as fixating the RGB light strip and the Magnetic Cable Management Track.
Despite the minor nuances above, I would still recommend the ULTIDESK Xtreme Standing Desk if you are in the market looking for a gaming standing desk.
