Apex+ EVO G27 27″ QHD (2560 x 1440) Monitor Review
In Singapore, when people want to buy a budget or value-for-money monitor, the first brand they will consider is usually Prism+ because of all the marketing they have done.
There is also another alternative in the market, Apex+. Apex+ is a gaming peripheral brand by Ulti. You probably have seen the brand Ulti occasionally on Shopee or Lazada. They are probably one of the top stores on Lazada and Shopee selling monitor arms, stands, and TV mounts.
My gaming standing desk and monitor arm for my working desk is from them.
Stating the obvious, Prism+ and Apex+ don’t manufacture their monitors. They probably work with some OEM factories in China to manufacture them under their branding. However, they do offer local warranties for their monitors.
Apex+ monitors come with a 3-year local warranty.
I was using the BenQ EW3270U 32″ 4K HDR Monitor for my gaming needs. I will give it to my nephew after he finishes his Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).
The only game I play is Overwatch 2, and I don’t need such high color accuracy, so any budget / value-for-money gaming monitors will work for me.
I have two Apex+ EVO G27 27″ QHD (2560 x 1440) Monitors, and they only cost S$180 each. Cheaper if you stack it with the e-commerce platform vouchers.

Considering the decent specifications, I am surprised at how cheap monitors have become.

Unboxing
The packaging contents are simple. It has a stand, a 1m DisplayPort 1.4 Cable, and a power adapter.

The stand will give you -5° to +15° tilt angle, &plusminus;20° swivel angle, and supports 90° rotation
The power adapter comes with a Singapore SAFETY Mark logo.

Ports
All six input ports are located at the back. You have the DC, followed by two HDMI 2.1, two DisplayPort 1.4, and the audio out port.

Power Button
The power button is on the right. Pressing and holding it for 3 seconds will switch the monitor on or off.

A quick press will toggle the monitor menu, and you can move it directionally to navigate it.

Moving it directionally outside the menu will trigger the shortcuts:
- Up: Adjust Brightness
- Down: Enable Game Mode
- Left: Switch to ECO Mode
- Right: View Current Input Source
Sadly, you cannot customize the shortcuts.
Built-in Headphone Hanger
The built-in headphone hanger is a unique feature I have never seen before. A hook can be extended from the top left side of the monitor to hook your headphones on.

I don’t have a use case since I game with my speakers.

Halo-Light
The Halo-Light is a reading light located below the Apex+ logo. Just press it and it will be switched on.

Built-in Speakers
There is a 3W built-in speakers in the monitor. But I don’t recommend using it because, as you expect, it will sound terrible.
VESA Mount
The monitor supports a 100 x 100 mm VESA mount.

I am using the Ulti Aura RGB Dual Monitor Arm to mount both of the monitors.

When mounting, I realized that the thread depth of the monitor is too shallow. After the screw is in fully, the VESA mounting plate still wiggles. I have to use two washers to tighten it. Luckily, I have some spare washers from my previous mounts.

I have provided feedback on this to the Apex+ team. Hopefully, they can include it in the monitor or the monitor arm packaging because it can frustrate consumers when the mount doesn’t work as intended, especially when both are from the same company.
Conclusion
Now I can play at a maximum of 180 fps even though it is at 2K resolution!

I am only slightly disappointed about the mounting issue. Other than that, at S$180, there is nothing much to complain about the Apex+ EVO G27 27″ 2K Monitor. With a 3-year warranty, the depreciation is just S$5 per month, cheaper than eating one Yakun Set A every month.
Once the warranty period is over, and if the monitor breaks, replace it with a new one. By then, the technology would have improved, and you could benefit.
