My New Computer Q9450
After waiting for 5 years, I longed for yesterday to come. It is the time to buy a new computer. As usual, I always buy my computer from Fuwell. I think together with Li Xiang, my family and my mom’s office, we bought at least a total of 5 computers from them.

Congrats on yr new comp, though quite pricey too :X
Good on your side to go for the Q9450 instead of the Q9550 as I personally find $300 more for an additional 0.17Ghz is not worth it man.
The windows experience rating is crap haha, I have not ran mine, and it gave me a 1.0 rating anyway haha. The best bet is to post your 3D mark 06 score man do it do it!

Yea, I have not installed 3Dmark 06 yet, lol got lots of things to install. When I first installed it gives me a 1.0 rating also.

I think based on your specs you should get at least a 14k 3dmark06 score and beyond, but not sure whether your additional ram will actually be of any benefit at all, cus 8GB is really overkill.
How come you got so much ram usage at startup? Think you have alot of redundant programs running. The baseline for vista should be 1GB. Mines around there as well after some tweaking.

8GB should be overkill currently, but I think it should be enough to last till 5 years later. I can’t seem to get 3Dmark 06 to run as I got an error with OpenAL. Must try again when I have time time.
I optimized it to ensure that the minimum programs to run. I got only 7 startup programs, 2 from Nvidia, 1 from NOD32 and the rest from MS.
I got a feeling Vista will detect how much RAM you got and then use, since I got so much, vista must be thinking it can eat as much ram as it wants. lol

Wow. A really great system for gaming. Wishing that I have the money to buy a system like yours.

I think maybe you are using the ultimate version of vista, so maybe there are more processes running the background on default.
OpenGL errors? mmm but wont they latest drivers from nvidia solve it? Go “dxdiag” on the search prompt and check, esp yr dx and opengl driver versions.
Oh yea I believe you updated to Vista service pack 1 for direct X 10.1 too right?
Detect? Nah, vista is not that smart, it just eats up what they have for them.

Shaun: Nope not openGL but openAL, lol it is by Creative. I have not updated to SP1 yet because I installed Chinese language pack and SP1 is not compatible with it and hence windows update refuses to update for me.
Jayce: You will get you chance =)

creative drivers.. oh the irony…
Any interest in Daniel K drivers?
Go google for “danielk vista support pack audigy”, they have 64bit versions as well, those worked, creative ones didn’t, well for me at least.
