Bluetooth has been upgraded from version 4.2 to 5.0 for the Tolv, and hence the range is increased from 10 m to 15 m.

With the help of Bluetooth 5.0, Sudio has improved the pairing and connecting process in the Tolv. Now when your Tolv earbuds leave the charging case, it automatically pairs and connects to your phone. Unlike for Niva, you have to manually press the button on the earbud to pair or to connect it to your phone.

Previously, the microphone is only in the right earbud. But for the Tolv, there is a microphone on both earbuds. This means that you can use either earbud to answer a call. If you are wearing both earbuds when a call comes in, only the right earbud will be activated.

The design of the earbuds is identical to Niva. The most obvious difference is the button on the earbuds of the Tolv is now much more prominent. Weight wise, it still weighs about the same at 5 g per earbud.

The most significant design change between the Tolv and Niva is the charging case. Niva’s charging case is flat and bulky while Tolv’s charging case is upright and compact. However, similar to AirPods, it can’t stand by itself.

Despite being made of plastic, Tolv’s charging case feels more solid, doesn’t feel plasticky, and has a more premium feel to it as compared to Niva’s Charging case.

One nice touch I like about it is there are two indicators at the back of the charging case to indicate the battery status of both left and right earbuds.

Even when closing the charging case, I get the same smooth feeling (and sound) as the charging case of the AirPods.

Tolv’s charging case capacity remains the same as Niva at 500 mAh while the earbuds have been reduced from 55 mAh in Niva to 50 mAh for the Tolv.

Since battery capacity is almost the same, Sudio managed to pack in more playback hours into the Tolv through efficiency. Tolv provides up to 35 hours of playback as compared to only 17.5 hours on the Niva.

By removing all the excess plastic on Niva, Tolv weight decreases to 41 g from 54g of the Niva.

Since I am not an audiophile, I can’t tell the difference in audio quality between both of them. But on paper, Tolv uses an 8mm graphene driver which is said to enhance sound clarity.
