Four years have passed since my last Our Play & Work From Home Setup 2020. COVID-19 came and passed. I have moved to a more central location in Singapore as commuting from my previous home is horrendous.

So, I wanted a post to update our play and work setup at our new home.

Computer Room
One of the mistakes from our previous home planning was to have a Computer Room where both of us could work inside the same room.

COVID-19 came and tested our planning, and it didn’t work. Having two people working in the same room taking two different calls is virtually impossible due to the noise levels.

Even having one person taking a call while the other is working is also distracting with all the conversations going on.

So, for our new home, we decided to have our room each for work.

My Desktop Gaming Setup
My gaming desktop specifications remain unchanged, while most of the accessories on my desk are new.

My Work Setup
Since I have the room to myself, I can have my gaming setup beside my working setup. My work setup is all new except for the monitors.

Now, I have both my gaming and work setup in my room.

Li Xiang’s Work Setup
Like my work setup, Li Xiang’s work setup is also basically new. She has her own room, which also contains our wardrobe.

My Console Gaming Setup
Because we each have a room, we do not have any room left for a console gaming setup. So we decided to move our console gaming to the Living Room.

My console gaming setup is also new. I upgraded my PS4 Pro to a PS5 “Slim” and bought a Nintendo Switch.

Power Consumption
Electricity costs have gone up by a lot since 2020. It has almost doubled from S$0.1814 in 2020 to $0.3258 per kWh in 2024.

Power consumption is measured using Aeon Labs Aeotec Z-Wave Smart Switch 6 (Gen5). I have rounded up the power consumption to the nearest 50W.

I have also added idle power usage and their daily cost (per 24 hours). However, if viewed day by day, the costs seem insignificant. But it all adds up. If you sum it all up, I am paying about S$23 a month for idling usage.
