Went over to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia over the weekend (Friday, 23rd March 2012 – Sunday, 25th March 2012) for my birthday celebration! Stayed at Piccolo Hotel located right in the heart of Bukit Bintang.
The location is fantastic, it is just in between Lot 10 Shopping Mall and Fahrenheit 88 and just 5 minutes walk from Pavilion. The price is pretty reasonable as well. Paid a total of MYR 566.08 (S$232) for 2 nights (S$116/night).
The usual price of the SSD (on 3rd February 2012) on Newegg.com is US$205 (S$259), however there is mail-in rebate of US$50 (SDG$63). After the mail-in rebate, it cost only US$155 (S$195).
Placed my order for the Multifunction 3-in-1 Retractable Charging Adapter – Black from Deal Extreme on the 4th February 2012 and it arrived in my mailbox on the 5th March 2012, it took exactly a month for it to reach my home. Paid US$5 for it and with Deal Extreme, shipping is always free.
This 3-in-1 Retractable Charging Cable is similar to the Innergie Magic Cable â Multi-Tip USB Cable which I bought last month but it cost 50% lesser and it has support for Apple’s 30-pin connector.
If you are like me and prefer to own the collector edition’s (CE) physical box, you can get it from Amazon (Diablo III: Collector’s Edition) for about US$100 (S$126) and they do ship directly to Singapore for US$20 (S$25), so total cost including shipping would be US$120 (S$151).
Nothing much happened on the 4th day which is the last day of MWC, I did not go down to the conference because I will be flying back to Singapore that day.
Woke up at about 9am and went down for breakfast and went back up to my hotel room after that to get my stuff packed. I have requested for my transport to come at 2pm despite my flight is at 6.30pm as I wanted to claim tax refund (18%) and shop at Barcelona Airport!
Day 03 starts off with the same format as day 02, which is a breakfast Q&A with the Nokia Maps team (Pino Bonetti & Mark Thomas).
Nokia Maps update will be out soon for Nokia Lumia devices which gives you greater zoomed-in details as well as the ability to create and share your favorite places via social networking sites.
Day 02 was slightly more relaxing, we have a breakfast Q&A with Dean Patrick from Nokia Entertainment at our hotel cafe at about 9am
Dean showcase the new Nokia Reading which of course as the name sounds, allow you to read and buy e-books/audio books on your Lumia devices. It will come to existing Lumia devices in April 2012.
The first day of MWC begins at 6am as the bus will be coming to pick us up at 7am from the hotel.
The Nokia booth is located in Hall 7 which is about 8 minutes walk from the main entrance. The press conference begins at 8.30am. We reached the MWC venue at 8am but the main press conference hall is already full! So they placed us in an “overflowing” hall which is just beside it. This also means we can’t see the press conference live and everything is projected out for us to see in the hall.
Took Lufthansa flight for the first time. There is no direct flight to Barcelona for Lufthansa and hence I took a flight (LH779) to Frankfurt, Germany and another flight (LH1124) from Frankfurt to Barcelona, Spain.
Got a chance to played with the Alienware M14X and my very first impression when I carried it home is it was so heavy (2.9kg)! But hey, it is Alienware, they make good gaming laptops which is not meant to be light in the first place.
The base model starts at S$1,899 with the following specifications:
