So far I am very satisfied with Dreamhost customer support. Filed in 3 support tickets within the week and fastest reply I got back was like within 15 minutes, slowest was within 24 hours (to me it is fast).
Site was down this evening, it took them 45 minutes to detect it and get it back up which to me is also considered fast.
If you are able to see this announcement, it means that the site has successfully move to the new host (Dreamhost to be exact). I signed a 2 year contract with them for (US$100.80), hopefully they do not let me down.
This site is definitely slower for me in terms of load time as the host no longer reside in Singapore (where I live), but it maybe faster for some of you guys also.
After a little more than a month worth of holidays, semester 2 of academic year 2006/2007 finally started today. Must work extra hard this semester, hopefully can pull up my crappy GPA of 3.18 to maybe about 3.2 or 3.3. Bit by bit, before I graduate hopefully my GPA can be above 3.5. All of my modules this semester are mostly theory based, unlike last semester where I spent so much time on CS11o2 and I only get B+. That sucks.
Caught One Last Dance, èŶèËž at GV Marina and that show sucks. It is too artistic for a normal movie goer. That was the first movie I watched in 2007 and it sucks.
Have been doing some research recently. The Intel Core 2 Quad which will goes into main stream sometime this years is called Kentsfield (Core 2 Quad). According to Wikipedia, the 2 main models are Q6600 (2.4GHz) and Q6400 (2.13GHz). Kentsfield is not really a true quad core processor, it is just basically two separate Conroe (Core 2 Duo) cores in one socket, and there will be a bottleneck in terms of bandwidth.
Went to Sim Lim Square today to buy my mom’s accounting server. As usual, the computer was bought in Fuwell, I just love the service there given by Kelvin Siah, I think I have bought about 4 computers from him/Fuwell.
I have released updates for 4 of my WordPress plugins namely, WP-Polls 2.13, WP-PostRatings 1.05, WP-Stats 2.06 and WP-UserOnline 2.06. These 4 plugins have been internationalized. You can now easily localize it by translating it into your own language by modifying the .po file that is inside the zip with PoEdit.
I have also release 1 new plugin called WP-Ban. It enables WordPress Admin to ban users by their IP or host name from visiting your WordPress site. When the banned users visit your WordPress Site, they will get a message which can be edited via WP-Admin -> Options -> Ban -> Ban Message.
As we all know that Microsoft Vista was originally scheduled to be released in 2003, after two years of Windows XP, but it got delayed by over five years due to various reasons. Definitely, Vista is very very improved OS over the previous versions, but the delayed in the launch has cost Microsoft, billions of dollars. Now the question at the moment is, what exactly after Vista? Microsoft can’t afford to wait another five years for an operating system. People are becoming more aware of the choices they have, and Linux is no longer a hobbyist OS, and that day isnt far away when it becomes simple enough to be a viable alternative to Windows. The competition is fierce. That is why, to stay at the top, Microsoft has planned a ‘Vista R2’, codenamed ËFiji which will be released some time in 2008. And after Fiji, there will be Windows ‘Vienna’. Windows Fiji, will not be a totally different OS from Vista; but it will be an add-on. Whereas Vienna will be totally different from Vista.
Windows Fiji will feature a more powerful sidebar, Monaco, a music authoring tool similar to Apples Garageband, default playback of HD-DVD, more advanced Speech Recognition, and new themes, icons, wallpapers, games, and minor tweaks to almost everything.
While in Windows Vienna the current interface will be completely stripped, no more explorer shells, and taskbars. No start menu. Probably no toolbars, or menus and Speech Recognition will become a major input device. One thing is for certain, Vienna wont be just an operating system, but a new generation in computing.
Had a DMMT gathering yesterday at Marina’s Sakae Sushi organized by Charlene, people turn up includes Charlene, Stacey, Zhi Wei, Zhi Ming, Terry, Hafiz, Ron, Lynn, Lester Goh, Xiu Hui, Laily, Suqin, Li Xiang and I. It was rather coincidence as we saw Zhi Fan and his girlfriend too. This is the 2nd time I have been eating Sakae Sushi within this week. After dinner, it was quite hard to find a place to chill out as everywhere is so crowded due to it is a Friday night. So we end up at Suntec’s Starbucks which closes at 1am.
The first time was also a DMMT gathering at Wheelock’s Sakae Sushi organized by Hui Juan, people turn up includes Hui Juan, Jie Lin, Xiu Yu, Elaine, Wei Quan, Choon Sing, Alvin and I.
