In short, the HTC Hero reaches Singapore this month at S$898. It uses a capacitive touchscreen, so multitouch is supported. For the full review and specifications, check out HardwareZone's article, HTC Hero: In the Nick of Time.
I've been eyeing the Sony ICF-C1iPMK2 lately because it's quite affordable: S$179 retail, or S$159 at Challenger with member discount. It's an iPod and iPhone dock clock radio, with reviews over at iLounge worth a look before buying.
Nokia today announced the N97 Mini, X6 and X3 at Nokia World, so now there's an Eseries, Nseries and Xseries, plus an unannounced Cseries I suspect targets lower-end phones. I've shared the relevant parts of the press release here.
My August 2009 site traffic stats: 11,487,833 hits, 918,191 pages and 237,324 visits from 167,558 unique sites. Daily hits averaged 370,575, with about 44.7 million KBytes transferred over the month. A steady, healthy showing for the height of summer.
Apple's Mac OS X Snow Leopard is now available from the Apple Singapore store for S$48. I pre-ordered mine on 26th August 2009 and received it the next day. Living near their Keppel hub, my house is always first.
I've been hooked on Apple's Push Notification Service ever since I bought Prowl; the possibilities are endless. The service, released with iPhone OS 3.0 on 17th June 2009, uses push technology to deliver alerts to your device. Truly a godsend.
After a leaked press shot and a review by Eldar of Mobile Review, the Nokia N900 has been officially announced, reaching selected markets from October 2009. Running Maemo 5, it promises computer-grade performance in a handset.
My StarHub MaxOnline Premium plan expired months ago. Rather than wait until December 2009 for a promotion, I renewed via the Enjoy 30% Off MaxOnline Ultimate deal. Normally S$124.12 a month, the discount makes it far more palatable.
Nokia has jumped on the netbook bandwagon, though I've no idea why it calls the Booklet 3G a mini-laptop; for me, any Atom-powered laptop is a netbook. The specs look delicious: a 10-inch screen, 3G, A-GPS and just 1.25kg.
Sushi Tei celebrates its 15th birthday this September, giving back to the community with a special Anniversary Menu of five items. One hundred percent of the net sales proceeds from that menu will be donated to its adopted charities.
Here are the five winners of last month's Wii Birthday Party Bash giveaway: Ang Meng Kok, Loh Guan Liang, Lim Pei Yi Esther, Johan Yu and Tan Hong Liang. Congratulations all! You've been emailed on collecting your copy.
Singapore Airlines is running a promotion: S$464 nett per person for a round trip to Hong Kong, sold from 31st July to 30th September 2009. We've booked our tickets and will be leaving on Saturday, 19th December.
My mom ordered four Dell Vostro 220 Mini Tower desktops last week. Three arrived on Tuesday and one on Wednesday, when I went over to help set them up. I managed to get the three Tuesday units running first.
Before I start this tutorial, full credit to crimsontwo from xSellize and joshua.menke; I've merely improved on crimsontwo's work. In his thread on running the Prowl Python script on your iPhone, he explains how to get Gmail push working.
I received the Birthday Party Bash Wii game by 2K Play three weeks ago and played it on our Games Day, 1st August 2009, celebrating the end of our internship. As the name suggests, it's perfectly suited to birthday parties.
City of Dreams is HP's Digital Festival, running 7th to 13th August 2009 at Ion Orchard Basement 4. I attended yesterday with Li Xiang, thanks to Amelia from Waggener Edstrom. It was short and sweet.
I've finally received the retail LG GM730. There was earlier commotion among bloggers whose units had old-looking batteries with under twelve hours' standby, and scratches on the phones. Hopefully this retail set fares better.
These are the modules I'm taking this coming semester, starting 11th August 2009: Legal Aspects of IT, IT and Customer Relationship Management, Java to C++, Place, Environment and Society, and The Evolution of a Global City-State.
I finally clicked the File For Graduation link, as I'll graduate this semester with my last paper on 3rd December 2009. My course runs four years, but as a Singapore Polytechnic graduate I earned 33 module credits of exemptions.
The be.ez LArobe netbook case comes in five colours for 10.2-inch models, measuring 26.6 by 19.2 by 3cm and weighing 172 grams, about the same as the Cool Bananas envelope case I reviewed days earlier. A slim, well-made sleeve.
My internship with Sedgwick Richardson ended last Friday. This is my one-week break before school resumes on 11th August. It'll be my final semester, and I can finally click File for Graduation tomorrow once my bid modules are allocated.
I received the fourth and final Teach a Technophobe challenge last week, though my mom and I were both busy and only finished it today. It asks you to record a video sharing your views on the E75's email.
