Blogger Name Card

I finally got a blogger name card to give away during blogger events, thanks to Li Xiang who designed it for me. Printed it at Tommy Print. S$60 for 200 pieces. The price is pretty steep because the material used is translucent plastic card. It took a month before I am able to collect it. Guess not much people print those.

Web Development On Mac

I am all along a Window user and have been doing web development on Windows for years. When I started work, all the guys in the engineering team are using Mac, so I thought I go with the flow and begin doing web development on a Mac. The experience was excellent, just need some time to get used to. After intensively using Mac for more than a month, I am proud to say, I am not going back to a Windows PC. My next computer shall be a Mac. I am hoping the 27″ iMac gets refreshed next year and it I am going to get that. Even Valve is bringing Steam to Mac. With Blizzard games able to run on Mac and Razer supporting it mice with Mac drivers. There is no reason for me to use a Windows PC anymore. If there is really a need (like testing website in IE), I will just use VMWare to run Windows 7.

Here are some software I use to do web development on Mac:

Canon EF-S18-200mm f3.5-5.6 IS Lens

Bought the Canon EF-S18-200mm f3.5-5.6 IS Lens from Alan Photo on Saturday for S$1,070. I regretted not getting the Canon 50D Kit III instead because at that time I have no clue about photography. I wanted something cheap and simple but now I finally know the limitations of the Kit I Lens aka EF-S18-55mm. I wanted a multipurpose lens and it seems the EF-S18-200mm fits into the bill and recommended by others.

Bought the Lens Pen as well for travelling purposes!

Crumpler Photo Neck Strap (The Industry Disgrace)

Bought Crumpler’s Photo Neck Strap, The Industry Disgrace, at Raffles City’s Crumpler Store for S$25. I have no idea why the website put S$34.24, I think must be an error or the price was reduced.

Conclusion, it is definitely worth the money as you will feel the difference between the stock neck strap and this one. The latter is much more comfortable because of the design and the cushion padding at the back.

Chingay Parade 2010

Together with other bloggers, we are invited to the Chingay Parade 2010 by Singapore Tourism Board. The theme for this year parade is ImaginEast (东方奇想). This is also the very first time Chingay is paraded in the F1 Pit Building, beside Singapore Flyer. I thought the Pit Building is a good venue choice because it is near the sea, it gets breezes blowing to the land in the night. The Pit Building is divided into 3 sections, with parade starting from blue to red and lastly yellow. Spectators should also come dress according to the color section they are seated in.

A little background on Chingay Parade. This year is the 37th consecutive year Chingay has been run. Chingay used to be a celebration in Penang during Lunar New Year season, with men carrying Chinese decorated floats on their shoulders, dancers, jugglers and magicians entertain the crowd. It celebrates a beginning to a new year. But Chingay is introduced to Singapore in the 1972 as an substitute activity for the banned firecrackers during the festive season.

Phottix Cleon 2 Wireless Remote C8

Bought the Phottix Cleon 2 Wireless Remote C8 from Red Dot Photo for S$59. You can pay using PayPal and delivery is free! Ordered on the 16th February 2010 and it was delivered to me in just 2 days, on the 18th February 2010!

The reason why I decided to get a remote control is because I have been bringing out my tripod lately to take group shots and it is kinda a hassle to keep repeatedly setting the timer. Did some research on Club Snap Forums and found out that the Phottix is one of the best wireless remote around.
