WordPress 3.8.1

WordPress 3.8.1 has been released. This is a maintenance releases that fixes 31 bugs found in WordPress 3.8.

Various fixes and improvements for the new dashboard design and new themes admin screen. An issue with taxonomy queries in WP_Query was resolved. And if you’ve been frustrated by submit buttons that won’t do anything when you click on them (or thought you were going crazy, like some of us), we’ve found and fixed this “dead zone” on submit buttons.

It also contains a fix for embedding tweets (by placing the URL to the tweet on its own line), which was broken due to a recent Twitter API change.

My Plugins Compatibility With WordPress 2.5

Below is a list of my plugins in development that WILL work with WordPress 2.5. The reason why I consolidated it here is because the current version of the listed plugins does not work properly with WordPress 2.5.

WordPress 3.1 Beta 1

WordPress 3.1 Beta 1 has been released!

If all goes well, we hope to release WordPress 3.1 to the world at large by the end of the year, though that is (as always) subject to change/dependent on how the beta period goes. The more help we get with testing and fixing bugs, the sooner we will be able to release the final version.

There are also some known issues: things that aren’t *quite* finished, but that weren’t worth holding up the beta release. They will be fixed before 3.1 is released for general use. Note that as things get fixed, the beta release will update nightly. What you should know:

Fatal error: Call to a member function is_page() on a non-object in /wp-includes/query.php. is_page() may be any conditional tag. This issue occurs when a theme or plugin is doing something wrong. Some code is checking the value of a conditional tag before we actually set up the Query, which means they don’t work yet. In 3.0, they silently failed and always returned false. In 3.1 Beta 1, this is throwing a fatal error. This will be handled in the final release, so use this opportunity to fix your plugins. (#14729)

Lester Chan’s WordPress Plugins June 2008 Update (Wave 1)

Here is the first wave of my June 2008 plugins update containing 11 plugins. The remaining 4 plugins (WP-Ban, WP-DBManager, WP-DownloadManager and WP-PostViews) shall be in wave 2. All of them should work only on WordPress 2.5. It is not tested for any version below that.

The most general noticeable change would be the path to the plugin is now fixed. Previously it was nested in another folder and I got several hate mails because of that. Since the path problem has been solved, the Automatic Plugin Upgrade should work in theory.
