The last personal laptop that I have was in 2008, the Apple 15.4″ MacBook Pro 2.53GHz (Late 2008). I used it during my university days. Since graduating in 2010, I have used my work laptop most of the time.
When this MacBook Pro started to spoil parts by parts in 2016, I threw it away and switched to Li Xiang’s hand-me-down Apple 13″ MacBook Pro Retina (Early 2015), and I have been using it since then.
I have been buying a lot of USB-C devices recently to prepare for this day.
This coming 1st September 2017, marks my third year in Tech in Asia. Technically, I started work before my official start date, because the previous guy left in August 2014 and I have to do the takeover before that.
The processor is a 2.4GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz) with 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM and 256GB PCIe-based Flash Storage. This configuration cost S$2,368.
Also Apple seems to be dropping the “the new iPad” name from iPad and it is now called “iPad with Retina Display” which is similar to the MacBook Pro’s “MacBook Pro with Retina Display”.
I passed my MacBook Pro 15″ to my brother and will be using my work MacBook Pro 15″ as my “official” laptop and hence I will need to bring it around from my work place back to home and vice versa and needed a bag to hold it.
I am using Fabrix Case‘s MacBook Pro sleeve previously but that sleeves requires one of my hand to hold on to it and since the MacBook Pro is so heavy, I can’t use the hand to hold other stuff while securing my MacBook Pro tight. So I decided to go for a proper working bag which can fit my MacBook Pro as well as some accessories.
The Apple 85W MagSafe Power Adapter is for 15″ and 17″ MacBook Pro. Got it in Hong Kong for only HK$588 (~S$93). It is selling for S$128 in Singapore!
I am also using a 15″ MacBook Pro for work and I have a power adapter at work, it has been wired so nicely that it makes removing it very difficult and hence I decided to get a spare power adapter that allows me to bring it along when I am on call.
Mac Mini
Mac Mini now comes with Intel Core 2 processor and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card.
iMac
iMac now comes in 4 flavors, one 20 incher and three 24 incher powered by Intel Core 2 processor and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M or NVIDIA GeForce GT 120/130 graphics.
Received my Apple MacBook Pro 2.53GHz yesterday from TNT after ordering it from Apple Store on the 16th October 2008. Apparently TNT only has 2 time slot for me to choose for the delivery which is during office hours (9am till 6pm) or night delivery (7pm to 10pm).
