Synology BeeStation Plus 8TB Review

Synology BeeStation is a user-friendly alternative to services like iCloud, Google Photos, and Google Drive, aimed at everyday consumers rather than IT professionals or DIY enthusiasts. It comes with a preinstalled hard drive and preconfigured settings, providing an out-of-the-box experience that lets users start uploading files and backing up photos immediately.

I would consider the Synology BeeStation a consumer Network Attached Storage (NAS) targeted at first-time consumers who want to get a feel of NAS and how it fits into their daily workflow.

Synology DiskStation DS1621+ Review

I decided to upgrade my slightly more than three years old 4-bay Synology DiskStation DS918+ to the 6-bay Synology DiskStation DS1621+.

Back in 2017, DS918+ was the flagship Synology 4-bay NAS and that was replaced with DS920+ in 2020. Also in 2020, the 5-bay DS1520+ got updated.

Synology DiskStation DS220j is an entry-level NAS from Synology targeting at users who wish to give Synology NAS a try or are new to the NAS world.

Ten years ago, I decided to switch to Synology DiskStation DS210j from D-Link DNS-323 and I have never looked back since.

Synology DiskStation DS418play

My Synology DiskStation DS415play is starting to show it’s age when I tried streaming videos using the Plex app on my Apple TV 4K to my television.

Very often, it will show the error, “Your connection to the server is not fast enough to stream this video. Check your Network.“.

WD Red With Synology DS415play

Western Digital (WD) produces the best hard drives and Synology produces the best prosumer Network Attached Storage (NAS). I have two NAS at home, both are from Synology and using WD hard drives.

My Synology DiskStation DS210j is on 2x WD Green 1TB running 24/7 since 2010 and my Synology DiskStation DS413j is on 4x WD Red 1TB running 24/7 since 2013. After all these years, both NAS and their hard drives did not give me a single problem at all.

Synology DiskStation DS413j Review – Video, Audio & Photo Station

In my first part review of the Synology DiskStation DS413j, I talked about the Unboxing and Setup, in the second part review, I talked about the Performance, Backup & CloudStation and for this last review, I will talk about the multimedia features of the DS413j and that includes Video Station, Audio Station and Photo Station as well as their mobile apps, DS Video, DS Audio and DS Photo+ respectively.

There are a lot of features in the Video/Audio/Photo Station, and hence for this review, I will focus on my personal use case; I want to access/stream my music/video/photos stored in my Synology NAS wherever I am on my iPhone or Android.
