QNAP TS-453D comes with only 4GB of RAM, and if you are going to do RAM intensive tasks like using Containers or Virtual Machines, you will definitely need to upgrade the RAM.
I got it for S$499 which is a massive discount from the usual price of S$1,179. At first, I was wondering whether it is a fake since the discount seems absurd.
It is being distributed by Trek 2000 (makers of Thumbdrive) in Singapore and is retailing for S$100+. Since Trek don’t enforce a Recommended Retail Pricing (RRP) model to the dealers, I can’t give you an official pricing. Right now only 1 capacity is available which is the 8GB.
The Eye-Fi is not officially sold in Singapore so you have to either get it from resellers who bought it overseas or you get it directly from Amazon. The Eye-Fi Pro X2 8 GB cost about S$160 when you get it from resellers in Singapore, it is more expensive, but you do not need to wait 1 to 2 weeks for it as normally they got ready stock. Amazon is cheaper but you have to wait 2 weeks (in my case) for it.
This is a very rare occasion that I did not go for a PC Show at the opening hours but instead went there at 7pm due to work. As compared to IT Show 2009, I do not really like the PC Show 2009. It seems that the walk space between booth is much narrower and Sony/Microsoft normally have a booth at level 3 so that the crowded will be spread out evenly. But for PC Show 2009, their booth are in level 4 or 6 and hence level 4 and 6 is extremely crowded.
The prices as compared to IT Show 2009 (3 months ago) are almost the same if not the same. Thumbdrive and memory cards are the same if not cheaper in Sim Lim Square anytime.
