The reason why I say “Android (sort of)” is because there is no Google Play services in the Nokia X family of phones, instead it is been replaced by Microsoft Services.
Microsoft will pay EUR 3.79 billion (US$5 billion/S$6.36 billion) to purchase substantially all of Nokia’s Devices & Services business, and EUR 1.65 billion (US$2.17 billion/S$2.77 billion) to license Nokia’s patents, for a total transaction price of EUR 5.44 billion (US$7.17 billion/S$9.13 billion) in cash.
Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will acquire substantially all of Nokia’s Devices and Services business, including the Mobile Phones (Nokia Asha) and Smart Devices (Nokia Lumia) business units as well as an industry-leading design team, operations including all Nokia Devices & Services-related production facilities, Devices & Services-related sales and marketing activities, and related support functions.
The official price of the Nokia Lumia 820 will be S$699 (without contract) and in terms of colors, the Nokia Lumia 820 will be available in Black or White and the wireless charging shell covers are available in white, black, cyan, red or yellow.
Nokia is looking for Nokia Lumia and Nokia smartphone owners to take part in the shoot for a Nokia TV commercial and they will be asked to talk on camera about why they love their Lumia or smartphone devices.
They are looking for people of all nationality’s but they MUST be living in Singapore.
Got an interesting package all the way from UK by Nokia. At first glance, you will think that it is a limited edition Nokia Lumia 920, but I knew it wasn’t as the phone is not in the market yet.
Inside the box are the 4 main components that are used to make the Nokia Lumia 920.
Let me start off this review by saying that the Nokia Lumia 900 is what the Nokia’s flagship Windows Phone 7.5 should have been. The Nokia Lumia 800 felt like a rush job and Nokia Lumia 900 felt just right. Unfortunately, Microsoft just killed all the current Windows Phones out in the market with the announcement of Windows Phone 8 by saying that all current Windows Phone will not be upgradable to Windows Phone 8 and that includes the Nokia Lumia series.
If you are still interested in getting a Nokia Lumia 900, it is currently retailing for S$849 (including taxes & without contract) at all 3 operators (SingTel, M1, StarHub) in Singapore. I do hope that Nokia have some sort of attractive trade-in offers for current Lumia owners to upgrade to a new Lumia with Windows Phone 8 that will be announced at Nokia World 2012 (wild guess).
Nokia Lumia 900 will be available in Singapore from Saturday, 26th May 2012. It will be retailing for S$849 (including taxes & without contract) at all 3 operators (SingTel, M1, StarHub) in Singapore.
The unit available in Singapore will be the non-LTE version and instead it will be running on HSDPA+ which gives you up to 42Mbps download speed. I will not put high hopes on that in Singapore *.
Nokia Lumia 610 will be available in Singapore from Saturday, 5th May 2012. It will be retailing for S$379 (including taxes & without contract) at all 3 operators (SingTel, M1, StarHub) in Singapore.
