Is there any real reason to go through the time-consuming, frustrating and unpleasant upgrade process again? I skipped 2.2.1 since the upgrade to 2.2 cost me hours of frustration and deleted my site for a week. I have an exhausting trip coming up and don’t have another week to waste on a trivial software update.

How do we know when an upgrade has any real validity or is merely an annoyance? Is there any reason not to wait until 2.3 or 2.4 when there may be a visible change in the program?

These x.x.x normally are bug fixes and if you are not affected by the bug, then I guess it is ok to skip it. Unless there is a security loophole, then it is a must for you to upgrade, if not your server may get attacked. I am waiting for 2.3 because there is support for tags and also 2.4 because the admin interface get re-designed.

    Hi guys,

@Gamerz go to speak with you again.

@hfdratch. I think you need to switch hosts. I had this problem for ages always being forced to do this admin work but there are hosts out there that will do the upgrade for you. The one I use is LivingDot and they are a pretty good host with decent package prices.

I have found them to be down for only about 10-15min in the last 5 months and to me that is pretty darn good. Also whenever I send them an email usually they have ‘normal’ problems sorted in a couple hours max and if you need an urgent fix its usually done as fast as their legs can move. I love knowing that my money is going into people that are willing to put effort into their support.

Anyway even if you don’t use them I highly recommend you find someone who will do this for you. Peace of mind has to be worth something no?

    Cheers
    Rog
PS All their people speak clear accent free English for those concerned with getting shopped out to an off-shore call centre
