WP-CommentNavi 1.00 Beta

I have created a new plugin called WP-CommentNavi for WordPress 2.7. What it basically does is to have nicer/advanced pagination for your comments in WordPress 2.7. It is basically a copy of my WP-PageNavi plugin replaced with variables from the comments API of WordPress. I whipped out this plugin within an hour through lots of “Finding & Replacing” of texts.

Here is a demo of the plugin in action.

You can download it from here:

Do remember to read the readme.html

I have already applied for this plugin on the WordPress repository. Still waiting for a reply.

*UPDATE* Committed the plugin, SVN is at http://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-commentnavi/

WordPress 4.0 Beta 1

WordPress 4.0 Beta 1 has been released. The final version of WordPress 4.0 is targeted to be released in on 27th August 2014.

What’s New?

  • Previews of embedding via URLs in the visual editor and the “Insert from URL” tab in the media modal. Try pasting a URL (such as a WordPress.tv or YouTube video) onto its own line in the visual editor. (#28195, #15490)
  • The Media Library now has a “grid” view in addition to the existing list view. Clicking on an item takes you into a modal where you can see a larger preview and edit information about that attachment, and you can navigate between items right from the modal without closing it. (#24716)
  • We’re freshening up the plugin install experience. You’ll see some early visual changes as well as more information when searching for plugins and viewing details. (#28785, #27440)
  • Selecting a language when you run the installation process. (#28577)
  • The editor intelligently resizes and its top and bottom bars pin when needed. Browsers don’t like to agree on where to put things like cursors, so if you find a bug here, please also let us know your browser and operating system. (#28328)
  • We’ve made some improvements to how your keyboard and cursor interact with TinyMCE views such as the gallery preview. Much like the editor resizing and scrolling improvements, knowing about your setup is particularly important for bug reports here. (#28595)
  • Widgets in the Customizer are now loaded in a separate panel. (#27406)
  • We’ve also made some changes to some formatting functions, so if you see quotes curling in the wrong direction, please file a bug report.

WP-Stats Update

WP-Stats has joined in the updates along with WP-Polls and WP-UserOnline. Now you do not need to integrate wp-stats anymore, the same goes with wp-polls and wp-useronline. Just create a page and type in [ page_stats ] (without any spaces) in the post’s content area, and there you go.

The down side of it is that it requires the latest version of wp-email, wp-polls, wp-views and wp-postratings.

8 Plugins Updated

I have updated 8 of my 11 plugins. The most important bug I fixed is the AJAX URL bug. The rest are some minor enhancements and bug fixes. wp-stats.php, wp-polls.php and wp-useronline.php are now integrated into WordPress Pages. You do not need to manually integrate it. You will still need to manually integrate wp-email.php, I am still finding a way around it.

I have started school after 2 years of National Service and I am very busy with my school work (university school work is hell). I will try my very best to give support to my plugins alongside with bug fixes.

Thanks for all the support =)

WordPress 3.2 RC1

WordPress 3.2 RC1 has been released!

The first release candidate (RC1) for WordPress 3.2 is now available.

An RC comes after the beta period and before final release. We think we’re done, but with tens of millions of users, a variety of configurations, and thousands of plugins, it’s possible we’ve missed something. So if you haven’t tested WordPress 3.2 yet, now is the time! Please though, not on your live site unless you’re extra adventurous.

Things to keep in mind:

  • With more than 350 tickets closed, there are plenty of changes. Plugin and theme authors, please test your plugins and themes now, so that if there is a compatibility issue, we can figure it out before the final release.
  • Users are also encouraged to test things out. If you find problems, let your plugin/theme authors know so they can figure out the cause.
  • Twenty Eleven isn’t quite at the release candidate stage. Contents may settle.
  • If any known issues crop up, you’ll be able to find them here.

If you are testing the release candidate and think you’ve found a bug, there are a few ways to let us know:

To test WordPress 3.2, try the WordPress Beta Tester plugin (you’ll want “bleeding edge nightlies”). Or you can download the release candidate here (zip).

Happy testing!

If you’d like to know which levers to pull in your testing, check out a list of features in our Beta 1 post.
