Li Xiang has a surprise for us (my brother and I) for our birthday! She designed a plastic acrylic sheet for both of us. Mine is lesterchan.net whereas my brother is xeroy with a star. Thank you so much Penguin! Get well soon and drink lots of water!
After almost 24 hours of downtime, finally the site is back online. We are there at REACH Datacenter to remove the server at 10pm and after that we reached Qala Datacenter about 11pm. 2 mistakes on our part, firstly we did not bring any CentOS installation DVD to install on Derrick Server and hence we wasted about 2 hours to download the file via torrent at 500KB/s. Since all of us are using old laptops, it took us about 45 minutes just to burn and verify the DVD. The first DVD that we burnt using Michael laptop, the server has problem reading it. Only at the second attempt using my laptop, it works. Hence we wasted another 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The second and biggest mistake of all is we (Derrick and I) forgot to change our Direct Admin license registered IP, the license is still being tag to our old server and hence DirectAdmin cannot start. By this time it is about 4am and everybody is tired, decided to pack up at 5am and went home, after dropping Derrick at Jurong East interchange Michael and I went to my mom office to collect his monitor that he has left it there. Derrick called me and say that his Direct Admin license IP has been updated and asked me to check mine, and yeap, mine is updated as well. Michael updated the license on our server and it just took 5 minutes. Went for breakfast after that at the canteen below my mom office as it operates 24 hours. After everything was done, it was about 6am. Sent Michael home and reached home about 7am.
Michael and I will be moving this server to Qala Datacenter from REACH Datacenter on Friday 27th March 2009. The site is expected to be down for 8 hours from 2200hrs on Friday, 27th March 2009 to 0600hrs on Saturday, 28th March 2009. Hopefully, it will take less than 8 hours.
Notice for Scheduled Maintenance (Friday, 27th March 2009)
Turned 25 today, and I am 1/4 of a centurion (a one hundred year old person)! This website was also borned on the 24th March 2002!
Had a simple birthday lunch at Shokudo : Japanese Pasta and Pizza at Cineleisure before catching Dragonball: Evolution. The tickets cost only S$6.00 per ticket and including a small popcorn combo set when you pay using UOB! Good deal, seldom watch movies on weekdays, pardon my slowness. Dragonball: Evolution is kinda disppointing and again, Hollywood destroy my favorite childhood anime. And who is Yum Cha? I don’t remember him in the anime.
It is just a sudden urge in me that happens last night that I wanted to finish my Curriculum Vitae (CV)/Resume as soon as possible. I have no idea why, perhaps it is the stress level of finding jobs, hearing how many graduates have problem finding jobs and how bad the World economy was especially Singapore. I spend about two days to complete my hard copy resume, the one which I am going to post/email out eventually and the one which is available on my website. I printed 3 copies to be kept in my mom’s office just in case there are visitors from her IT vendors, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) or even Spring Singapore.
If everything goes well, I should be able to finish my studies before 5th December 2009 (it is the last day of NUS AY09/10 semester 1 exams), my convocation should be sometime next year in June. I still got about 9 more months left to go.
Apple announces iPhone OS 3.0, the iPhone OS that was supposed to be in iPhone in the first place.
Here are some of the features we can expect in iPhone OS 3.0:
Received two Xbox 360 games via courier today from 2K Games which is part of Take-Two Interactive. Take-Two does Grand Theft Auto, Midnight Club, Civilization, Bioshock, Major League Baseball, NBA, NHL, etc.
Bioshock 2 will be released sometime in September 2009 and it will be on the cover page on April’s issue of Game Informer.
Woke up at 10am today, left my house at 10.30am to Suntec City with my brother for the IT Show 2009. I decided to park at Marina Square instead of Suntec City to avoid jam at the carpark. Reach Marina Square before 11am, and still manage to eat McDonalds Breakfast.
After breakfast, immediately went to wait outside level 6 of the Suntec exhibition center. While waiting, there is this lady from MediaCorp Radio approaches us for interview. She talked to me in English first and then ask me whether I can do a Mandarin interview, I agreed since I got nothing to do. She ask some questions like what are you buying at the IT Show, how often you come to this type of fair and how much savings you can save. I am so handicapped in Mandarin. I have no idea how to translate laser, router, switch, wirless USB adapter to Mandarin!
My family (parents + my brother + Huimin) were in Japan for a tour from 28th February 2009 to 11th March 2009. Now there are back, they got Li Xiang and I some gifts! Pictures paint a thousand words, so here they are!
Apple refreshes its iPod Shuffle, now available in 4GB only for S$128. Instead of an array of colors available, now there are only 2 colors, silver and black. The design has also been changed, it now looks vertical instead of square. Despite the lack of a screen, Apple introduces a feature called “Voice Over”. Also in the new design, there are no more controls on the player itself. The controls are now located on the right earbud cord.
Easy access controls
The controls of the new iPod shuffle are located on the right earbud cord. With command central now strategically placed in this more convenient location, you can navigate your music – and activate the VoiceOver feature – without taking your eyes off your run, your ride, or whatever you’re doing.
