X-Mas Site Color
Switched the site to its red theme for Christmas; it's existed for ages, now set as default for the season, with snowflakes falling, though the JavaScript lags slightly. I'll change the top image to something festive.
Updates about lesterchan.net itself: redesigns, new features, and changes under the hood.
Switched the site to its red theme for Christmas; it's existed for ages, now set as default for the season, with snowflakes falling, though the JavaScript lags slightly. I'll change the top image to something festive.
Decided to move the ShoutBox onto the main page only, so the rest load faster. It'll appear as a shout module rather than standing alone; it's been practically empty for months anyway. Humans are born lazy.
Uploaded all the chalet photos from three digital cameras to the site, 271 photos, 26 MB total. They're up in the Poly Gallery. For the record, this site runs on B2's CVS version, so files stay current.
Tweaked things on the site, mostly back-end rather than user-facing. The page load time is more accurate, shown at the bottom outside the layout. All layout parts are called from a function file instead of inlining.
You can now read my blog on a WAP-enabled phone, thanks to a hack by plazz2000. The first WAP page lists each blog's date and title; tap a link and it brings up almost the full entry.
B2 is out of beta; v0.6 is the last release before v1.0, and as always I keep the site current, so it's now on v0.6. Little changed from v0.6pre5 beyond minor bug fixes and backend work.
Upgraded the site to B2 v0.6pre5, which adds PingBack and TrackBack, features I don't understand. The headline additions: TrackBack support, distinct from MT's standalone version, and Pingback, a new way to notify other blogs you've linked.
This site got ripped off; I discovered it this morning while checking my Extreme Tracking at school with nothing to do. The ripper's whole site, even his current version 3.1, is lifted straight from mine. Cheeky.
Some site updates, mostly coding: bumped the blog scripts from pre3 to pre4, added an 'Email This Article' feature, a 'Referers' tracker for where visitors come from, and page navigation to the image gallery's thumbnail view.
If you can read this, the site's migrated to the new host. You may need to re-enter some form fields, since cookies were stored under pixercor.net, not orientek.net. The migration went smoothly; all database tables running.
Moving this site to a new host soon. PixerCor is closing down, taking the domain and hosting with it. Please always access via the main link; the new URL's coming. I'm uploading and configuring everything now.
Some site updates: added page numbers to the photo gallery, images for JL and KN's birthdays, a few more blog links on the left, and a printer-friendly version of each blog entry. Small but handy touches.
Sorry for the downtime from 1 to 2 August; PixerCor's host was apparently doing some server migration, though I don't know the details. Thanks to abnormal for bringing the site back online. Normal posting resumes tonight.
Added a new feature to the site: you can pick your colour scheme, found on the left under 'Your Info'. Changes apply on the next page load. I can't solve one problem though; it may be refresh-related.
Updated the blog software to b2 0.6pre3, fixing several bugs I'd found along the way, though one in b2archives2.php still eludes me. If you spot any more, please mail or ICQ me. The fixes are now in.
Today, 1 June 2002, marks the official launch of the new GamerZ Personal Homepage, with an Image Module, Shout Module, Poll Module, and a blog system letting you comment on my posts. All powered by PHP.
Welcome to the GamerZ Personal Homepage; this is where it all begins. The very first post, really just a test of the new blog system. From here on, this becomes my little corner of the internet.
Site done, all the pages are complete. From now until 19 April, I'll be checking for bugs, typos and grammar across the whole lot; no new sections or pages, just minor tweaks over the coming week.
Today's the deadline to hand this website up. Once it's marked, I'll convert it from .htm to .php for easier updates, then add a link database, news scripts, polls and more. The power of PHP awaits.
Bugs fixed, with extras added, including an Audio Module that plays a song as you surf. The main URL is being re-routed and will be back normal this Friday, 19 April. A backup site is up.
The site's about 80% done, most pages complete bar Downloads, Links, Portfolio and Family. The feedback form now validates required fields, programmed in PHP; email me if you want the source. Eleven days to the deadline.
The layout's about 95% finalised. I've made this new page the default now after the splash screen. Not much else yet; I'll keep adding to the About Me section. Three weeks to go before the deadline.
