Windows Phone “Mango” aka Windows Phone 7.5 has been Released to Manufacturing (RTM) which means we are going to get it soon (I am guessing September/October 2011)! The RTM build of Mango is 7720
I wanted to drop into the Windows Phone Blog briefly to update you on an important milestone. Earlier this morning, the Windows Phone development team officially signed off on the release to manufacturing (RTM) build of âMangoâ â the latest version of the Windows Phone operating system. This marks the point in the development process where we hand code to our handset and mobile operator partners to optimize Mango for their specific phone and network configurations. Here on the Windows Phone team, we now turn to preparing for the update process. The Mango update for current Windows Phone handsets will be ready this fall, and of course will come pre-installed on new Windows Phones.
OS X Lion
Mac OS X Lion is finally released, it cost US$29.99 in the Mac App Store. I was downloading this at 11MB/s (megabytes not megabits) yesterday night! If you have a slower Internet connection, Lion will be made available on a USB thumb drive through the Apple Store (Singapore) for S$88. Mac OS X Lion is the eighth major release of Mac OS. It has more than 250 new features such as new Multi-Touch gestures, system-wide support for full screen apps, Mission Control, Mac App Store, Launchpad and a new re-designed Mail app.
It seems that Xcode 4.1 (App Store link) is free (usual US$4.99) for OS X Lion only and FaceTime is included in OS X Lion (App Store Link) (usual US$0.99).
I have joined the Microblogging bandwagon and Posterous is my weapon of choice. I chose Posterous over Tumblr because the UI of Posterous is clean and intuitive and even the Posterous’s iOS App is pretty well done.
Personally, I think Tumblr has too much features for me such as the sharing of Text, Photo, Quote, Link, Chat, Audio and Video. I personally going to use a microblogging service to share photos with some text only and hence Posterous fits my needs.
I went for the Nokia E6 after I played with it during the blogger’s preview (Nokia E6 Blogger Preview | Nokia X7 Blogger Preview) back in May 2011. One of the reasons I went for the Nokia E6 is because of the full QWERTY keyboard. I am still not used to typing on the virtual keyboard of Symbian OS.
Thanks to SingTel and HTC for organising the Most Checked-in Party at Zouk . It was awesome! I was slightly late for the party due to work commitments but better late than never arrive at all!
First thing upon reaching Zouk is for you to register for the party. There are a few computers outside for you to login to your Facebook account, upon logging in, you need to like SingTel’s Facebook Page and then allow SingTel & HTC Event Facebook Application to access your Facebook details. This is to allow the RFID tagging to work.
mig33 is about to unveil a new Developer program for developers and brands that want to build social games and apps for her 50 million registered users and thriving virtual economy.
Just want to share some rsync code snippets that I used to backup my data to either Dropbox or Jungle Disk on my Mac.
I have problems finding/Googling the proper flags to use for rsync for Dropbox and Jungle Disk when I first got started with rsync on the Internet, hopefully this blog post will be useful for someone.
The Eye-Fi is not officially sold in Singapore so you have to either get it from resellers who bought it overseas or you get it directly from Amazon. The Eye-Fi Pro X2 8 GB cost about S$160 when you get it from resellers in Singapore, it is more expensive, but you do not need to wait 1 to 2 weeks for it as normally they got ready stock. Amazon is cheaper but you have to wait 2 weeks (in my case) for it.
