I took a day off for LG's press conference at CommunicAsia 2009 at Singapore Expo, billed as the world premiere of LG's newest feature-packed smartphone. Three phones featured: the LG GD900 Crystal, the GM730 and one more.
Here's my June 2009 update for all 16 of my WordPress plugins. They should work on WordPress 2.8, though I haven't tested older versions. The plugins now use jQuery for AJAX instead of TW-Sack.
Video Games Live Singapore takes place this Friday, 19th June 2009, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium at 8:30pm, with a pre-show from 6:30pm. The two-hour concert has tickets priced at S$55, S$70, S$85 and S$115.
I was invited to the SingTel AMPed event at Mandarin Oriental. AMPed is a music service much like Nokia Comes With Music, but not tied to any phone, working on Nokia, Samsung or Sony Ericsson.
Rare for me, I skipped the PC Show 2009 opening and only went at 7pm because of work. Compared with IT Show 2009, I didn't really enjoy it; the aisles between booths felt much narrower.
WordPress 2.8 has been released! As Matt announced, version 2.8 'Baker' is now available to download. It's a nice fit-and-finish release, with improvements to themes and plenty of under-the-hood polish that make it well worth upgrading to.
Apple has announced the iPhone 3GS, where the S stands for speed. It looks identical to the iPhone 3G but adds improved performance, a slightly better battery, faster 7.2Mbps HSDPA up from 3.6Mbps, and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.
Samsung sent me the Lapfit LD190G to review, thanks Daniel! These widescreen monitors promise enhanced productivity and entertainment, designed to pair neatly with laptops and offering USB connectivity for multitasking on the move. A handy companion for a portable setup.
I was invited to the Nokia N97 launch in Kuala Lumpur, but my internship meant I couldn't take leave. Hopefully there's a next time, perhaps for the N98 or N99 when it reaches our local telcos.
My May 2009 site traffic stats: 10,860,869 hits, 735,381 pages and 208,951 visits from 159,587 unique sites, with about 39.7 million KBytes transferred over the month. A slightly quieter month, but still healthy traffic overall.
My 2008/2009 Semester 2 results: C+ in Probability and Statistics, A+ in Control, Audit and Security of IS, A in IT and Supply Chain Management. My CAP rose to 3.73, my first ever A+ and A!
Singapore has confirmed its first case of Influenza A (H1N1). The patient, a 22-year-old Singaporean woman who was in New York from 14th to 24th May, is in stable condition at the Communicable Disease Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
The Singapore Food Expo 2009 runs at Singapore Expo Hall 5 from 29th May to 2nd June, 11am to 10pm daily. My mom has taken part since 2003; she has three booths, selling miscellaneous food products and Glico goods.
Attended the Nokia N97 blogger preview at Nokia's office in Alexandra Technopark. The N97 will be Nokia's next flagship, and it felt solid in hand. It comes in black and pearl white, with plenty of interesting applications on board.
I started my internship at Sedgwick Richardson Singapore on Tuesday, 12th May 2009. The job is straightforward but not easy: I convert AI and PSD files to HTML, then into WordPress templates, before the site goes live.
Acer's new Aspire Timeline series marks a new era in mobile computing, keeping users connected and entertained on their notebooks far longer. Acer says it has struck a delicate balance between lightness and battery life across the lineup.
My cousin and auntie returned from Japan with lots of Head Porter goods my brother requested, and I got a Black Beauty monogram pouch. My brother has set up headporter.sg to sell Head Porter items online, all guaranteed authentic.
The Fail Whale, designed by Lu Yiying, was made famous by Twitter, which shows it whenever the server is overloaded or down. Zazzle and Spreadshirt are the two official places to buy the Fail Whale t-shirt, and I've ordered mine.
My exams ended on 6th May 2009, and straight after I went for retail therapy, buying a Nintendo Wii from Qisahn.com at Far East Shopping Centre on Orchard Road. A last-minute decision made the day before.
My April 2009 site traffic stats: 10,377,687 hits, 708,306 pages and 187,375 visits from 154,940 unique sites, with about 39.2 million KBytes transferred over the month. A slightly quieter month, but traffic stays comfortably in the millions.
I was invited to an Intel and Dell Swarm event at Geek Terminal yesterday. Dell Swarm is a clever idea from Dell Singapore, making Singapore the first country to launch it, around 5th May 2009.
As mentioned previously, Nokia Messaging makes mobile email easy, mobilising consumer email across a range of Nokia S60 devices. It lets users quickly set up, access and use their email through a service optimised specifically for mobile messaging.
