Dell Swarm

I was invited to a Intel/Dell Swarm event yesterday at Geek Terminal. Dell Swarm is a very nice idea and the idea was came out by Dell Singapore and hence Singapore is the first country to be launching it on 5th May 2009 (tentatively). Dell business model has always been unique and most polytechnics and universities around the world always use Dell business model and supply chain as case study for the students. Dell Swarm brought a whole new meaning in buying things online.

When we all want to buy Dell products, the first thing that comes to our mind will be, Dell Singapore Website. You can also email or call to make your Dell purchases. This is a 1 to 1 buying directly from Dell. What if you want to gather more of your friends to buy together in bulk to enjoy greater discounts? That is Dell Swarm for you. Dell Swam allows you and your friends (up to 15 people) to buy Dell products in a Swarm together and enjoy the bulk discount. Each person is allowed to buy up to 3 units of any Dell products. You can share the Swarm via social networking sites like Facebook and ask you friends to join the buying spree. Each swarm will last for 72 hours or when the people in the swarm reaches 15.

Lenovo Blogger Nite 2009

I was invited by Derrick to attend the first Lenovo Blogger Night which is held at 7atenine (pronounced as 7 8 9) located at the Esplanade Mall. Food and drinks were good, ambiance as good as well as there were not many people. There were about 20 of us, about 10 where bloggers and the rest were Text 100 or Lenovo Staff. There is the first time I attended a Lenovo event. I was supposed to attend one last year but was unable to make it as my Dad is leaving for Vietnam the next day.

Besides food, there are 5 new upcoming computers, 4 laptops, and 1 desktop. I am not able to get a clear shot of the computers because spotlights are used and if I do, my shadow will block the image. If I use flash, the shadow problem will be gone but the picture will be overexposed!

Asus F8Sg Laptop

We bought a Asus F8Sg laptop from South Asia Computer at Funan for my dad.

At the moment, he is using his friend’s laptop to Skype with us and hence he is constrain by the timing and duration of each Skype call. Since there is wireless Internet in his apartment and even better still the wireless access point is installed in his room. We think it would be better to have his own laptop and hence we got 1 for him.

My New Computer Q9450

After waiting for 5 years, I longed for yesterday to come. It is the time to buy a new computer. As usual, I always buy my computer from Fuwell. I think together with Li Xiang, my family and my mom’s office, we bought at least a total of 5 computers from them.

Enough of story, lets bring on the specifications:

Microsoft Surfacing Computing

I guess we all saw the multi touch system which was on YouTube quite sometime ago, but wait until you see the video of Microsoft Surfacing Computing. It took my breath away. I was like WTF? Is this even possible.

The launch of Microsoft Surface marks the beginning of a new technology category and a user-interface revolution. Surface, Microsofts first surface computer, provides effortless interaction with digital content through natural hand gestures, touch and physical objects. Surface computing breaks down traditional barriers between people and technology, changing the way people interact with all kinds of everyday information ” from photos to maps to menus.
