Google Shutting Down Google Reader

Google Reader was created in early 2005 by Google engineer Chris Wetherell and launched on 7th October 2005 through Google Labs.

I can’t remember when I first started using Google Reader, but my guess it would be around in 2006. Ever since then, I have been using Google Reader on a daily basis (even weekends and when I am on holiday).

Uber Is Here In Singapore

What is Uber? Uber is a service that connects passengers with drivers of luxury vehicles for hire. Think of it as a private limousine service. You book the limousine, it gives you an estimated waiting time for your pick-up, sends you to your destination and you hop off. Payment will automatically be charged to your credit card that you provided when you signed up for an Uber account.

Synology DiskStation DS413j Review – Video, Audio & Photo Station

In my first part review of the Synology DiskStation DS413j, I talked about the Unboxing and Setup, in the second part review, I talked about the Performance, Backup & CloudStation and for this last review, I will talk about the multimedia features of the DS413j and that includes Video Station, Audio Station and Photo Station as well as their mobile apps, DS Video, DS Audio and DS Photo+ respectively.

There are a lot of features in the Video/Audio/Photo Station, and hence for this review, I will focus on my personal use case; I want to access/stream my music/video/photos stored in my Synology NAS wherever I am on my iPhone or Android.

Twitter Archive

3 years ago, I blogged about How To Get Your First Tweet If You Have More Than 3,200 Tweets? which has accumulated about 55k views. The instructions uses Internet Archive which may or may not be available for some users.

But I am glad that Twitter has been rolling out the ability to download your Twitter Archive to most users already. That option can be found in “Twitter.com -> Settings -> Your Twitter Archive”.

Pebble Watch

Pebble Watch was the 9th Kickstarter project that I backed. It broke the Kickstarter record of the most highly funded Kickstarter project. It’s initial goal was only US$100,000 but it raised US$10,266,845 from 68,929 backers.

The project started on 11th April 2012, I backed it the next day on the 12th April 2012 and it got funded on 19th May 2012. After almost a year of development, my Pebble Watch got shipped on 10th February 2013 and I finally received it on Valentine’s Day, 14th February 2013.

Indoor Google Maps For Android Now Available In Singapore

Starting today, with the release of Indoor Google Maps for Android in Singapore, you are able to determine where you are, what floor you’re on, and where are the shops located with regards to your current location in the shopping mall.

Detailed floor plans will automatically appear when you’re viewing the map and zoomed in on a building where indoor map data is available. And, in certain locations, you will have the option of using the indoor My Location feature to help you navigate your way inside. The familiar “blue dot” icon can indicate your approximate location, and when you move up or down a level in a building with multiple floors, the interface will automatically update to display which floor you’re on. All this is achieved by using an approach similar to that of ‘My Location’ for outdoor spaces, but fine tuned for indoors.
