My 2nd hoot from SITEX 2010 is the A.C. Ryan Playon! HD (S$349). It comes with a 2TB Samsung harddisk (Spinpoint F4EG) and free Wireless N Dongle. The reason I chose A.C. Ryan instead of other brands is because it can play almost all formats including RM & RMVB. I know Western Digital Live TV can’t play those formats.
The A.C. Ryan Playon! HD also supports NAS functionality and hence I will be off loading all my media stuffs into it from my NAS.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) will be happening in over 100 countries on 3 December 2010. This year, the United Nations is getting people all over to world to keep a promise they have made: to include persons with disabilities as we move forward as a society.
To commemorate this day in Singapore, the Disabled People’s Association (DPA) is holding a “East Meets West” football match on 27 November 2010 to raise funds.
Hooted the My Passport Essential SE (1TB) (USB 3.0) from SITEX 2010 for S$189.90 (usual price is S$209.90). This is my first USB 3.0 device despite not having any computers that support USB 3.0. It is all about future proofing!
Since this portal harddrive supports USB 3.0, the connector on the harddrive itself is a USB 3.0 MicroUSB Port (which looks weird, see picture below) instead of the usual USB 2.0 MiniUSB port. But it is backward compatible meaning your USB 2.0 MicroUSB (NOT miniUSB) still can fit into the port.
Not really related to technology, but just a heads up that H&M is opening in Singapore finally! Unfortunately I have only been to Hong Kong’s H&M and gotten myself some shorts from there.
H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB takes the first step into South East Asia by opening a store at the best business location on Orchard Road in Singaporeâs most central shopping area.
NetDNA, a Content Distribution Network (CDN) company, is now sponsoring lesterchan.net! So now I am offloading all my static files (Images, CSS & JavaScript) to NetDNA’s CDN services.
They have 10 data centers around the world and provide CDN services for more than 200 large websites such as:
The Sanyo Eneloop Mobile Booster KBC-L2B is an upgrade of the Eneloop Mobile Booster KBC-L2A. The model number is a little confusing as it only increment from A to the letter B. I think Sanyo would be better off creating a new model number so that consumers like us can better differentiate which one is new and which one is older.
In terms of design, it is identical except that the Sanyo logo has been replaced by a Eneloop logo. The battery output has been increased so that instead of just producing 2x 500mA, it is now able to produce 1x 1A (1,000mA) to charge high consumption gadgets such as the Apple iPad and Blackberry. However the lithium-ion battery capacity still stays the same at 5,000mAh and can roughly charge your iPhone 4 which has a battery capacity of 1,420mA about 3 times in a single charge. The package now also includes a MiniUSB to MicroUSB adapter.
Celebrated Li Xiang’s birthday with a stay at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) on Friday. We book pretty early and chose the Rise & Shine Package which includes 1 night stay and breakfast at Rise Cafe for two. Paid S$389 (S$457.85 after tax).
It is pretty expensive but I say it is totally worth it! Considering we paid S$270 for our 6th anniversary stay at Scarlet Hotel which has nothing and the room is much smaller and lack any window view. I would say MBS is not too expensive.
SingTel is the first and only teleco operator (for the time being) to bring in the Nokia N8 and it has been available from 5th November 2010 onwards. To celebrate the launch of N8 and together with Sony Music, they have brought in David Archuleta (Wikipedia). Just in case you are wondering who is David Archuleta (like me at first), he is the runner-up of the seventh season of American Idol and he is the guy who sang Crush. I know the song crush from radio but I have no idea who sang he sang it till today.
