Bought the Canon PowerShot S95 from the Canon Service Center at Keppel Towers for S$531 (usual price S$669) through the Canon Privilege Purchase Program. This program entice users to purchase another Canon product by allowing trade-in/buy-back of their previously owned Canon products and offering them about 20.5% off the recommended retail price (RRP).
I traded-in my Canon IXUS 860IS which I got from Malaysia back in July 2008 for the new Canon PowerShot S95 which was just launched a few weeks back. The RRP of the Canon PowerShot S95 is S$669 and after the trade-in, I paid S$531. That is about 20.6% off.
My brother got me the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5vi from Amazon and shipped to Singapore via Borderlinx as Amazon do not ship certain items directly to Singapore. It cost US$64.99 (S$86) after discount, original price is US$169.99 (S$225) and Singapore RRP is S$299. My brother bought 3 and shipping charges for all 3 Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5vi is US$25.34 (S$33.55).
I kinda like the wire of the UE SuperFi 5vi as it does not get entangle easily as compared to Klipsch Image S4i. There are more earbuds included in the package (including foam ones).
*UPDATE* It seems that PayPal restored the access to my account, all I have to do is to remove the Donation button. I have make changes to the button and the code so that it is now a “Buy Now” type instead of “Donation” type. But of course, I will never trust PayPal again.
Received my Speck PixelSkin HD (Black) from the iPhone 4 Case Program 2 days ago. It was shipped on the 7th September 2010 and I received it on the 14th September 2010.
The PixelSkin HD is made up of Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) which makes it much harder than those cheap silicon cases. I like the finish of the case, it is in matt black and according to Wikipedia, it is resistance to oil, grease and abrasion and hence it is somewhat resistance to fingerprints!
Ah Kong (é¿å ¬) which means grandfather is a 6 minutes short film by Royston Tan about Dementia. The film tells a poignant story of a grandson seeking to understand and reach out to his grandfather who is diagnosed with dementia. Ah Kong is part of HPBâs campaign this year to raise awareness of dementia.
The short film start off with a few people praising Ah Kong in his younger days, cuts off to Ah Kong talking to the grandson and ends by the grandson understanding his ah gong condition and playing along with him.
While I was in Vietnam over the weekends, my brother offered to help me get the Western Digital Elements Desktop 1TB harddrive from Comex 2010 at Bizgram stall. I am going to use the HDD for my MacBook Pro Time Machine backup.
SingTel has announced their price plans for OpenNet Fibre Internet connection. From tomorrow (1st September 2010), you can register your interest in the high-speed fibre services at www.singtel.com/exstream.
If you ask me, it is still pretty expensive. I hope they will have a exPress 200 plan because exPress 150 plan is not really a huge jump from Starhub 100Mbps cable.
After much hesitation, finally got a new graphics card to replace mine old Leadtek PX9800GX2 1GB DDR3 which gives me BSOD EVERY SINGLE TIME I run any 3D games. This problem occurred just after a year! RMA once, but the problem came back to my RMAed set once my warranty is over! If I just use it normally (Programming/Internet/Work), it will work fine. But these task does not do justice to my Core 2 Quad with 8GB of RAM!
I thought that I am getting an iMac soon and will not need a graphics card, but after thinking for a few weeks, I think that is still a long way! I am guessing the iMac will be refreshed with a new design in September 2011 and that is the time I am going to get it!.
