When I first got my iPhone 3G back in 2008, I searched high and low for the dock adapter for my universal dock. I could not find it on Apple Singapore Online Store or in any authorized Apple Reseller Shops.
I only got it a year after (in 2009) when I went to Taiwan for my graduate trip and I saw it selling in an authorized Apple Reseller Shop.
Bought the SwitchEasy Nude for iPhone 4 at VivoCity’s Best Denki for S$32. Not much iPhone 4 cases to choose from since the iPhone 4 has only been launched for less than 2 months.
SwitchEasy Nude is essentially a 1mm thin casing made from GE Lexan polycarbonate material. It is so thin that I almost broke it when I tried to take it out after placing my iPhone in it. I heard numeroes complains that once you drop *touch wood* your iPhone 4 with the casing on, the casing will crack.
The location was at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre (Hall F) instead of the usual SingTel Comcenter. As this is a proper convention center, the space is huge and it is fully air-conditioned. This time around, it is strictly by appointment basis and no walked in is allowed. They are a few “layers” of security to make sure that happens. Even if your appointment is at 3 am but you came at 11 pm, they will make you queue up under the 3 am queue. As long as people followed their appointment timing, things will be smooth.
When I first heard that StarCraft 2 is going to retail for S$109 and from IAH Games, I immediately cancel my pre-order from The Software Boutique because paying S$109 for a normal edition is not really worth it. So I went to check Amazon for the Collector’s Edition, but unfortunately it was sold out. I placed the item on my Amazon alert list so that once the item is available again, Amazon will email me. I received that email on the 17th July 2010 and immediately ordered it alongside with a few of Li Xiang’s book on my wish list.
When I first saw the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit (S$38) available from Apple Singapore online store, the shipping estimate was 2-3 weeks. But regardless, I still went ahead and bought it together with my brother’s Apple iPad Case (S$58).
I went ahead and place my order on 27th July 2010, to my surprise the next day I received an email saying both items have been shipped and I received it today via DHL.
Here is the official word from SingTel on what to expect from the launch of iPhone 4 tonight and over the weekends:
SingTel has chosen a new and bigger venue to launch the new iPhone 4 this year at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre. We are selling the phones at a centralised location so that all customers with appointments can buy their phones from one place conveniently. The larger venue also allows customers to be entertained by interactive demo zones where they can access and learn about SingTel’s latest mobile apps ranging from navigation to shopping apps. Customers can also enjoy food and beverages, plus song and dance performances.
Ordered my MicroSIM cutter from Deal Extreme for US$20.00, but now the price has dropped to US$17.43. In case you are unfamiler with Deal Extreme, the price stated includes free shipping. Placed my order on the 11th July 2010 and got it delivered to me on the 22nd July 2010. Took about 11 days before it reaches my house. I think it is because of supplier’s stock issue as when I check the status, it was stuck at “Waiting For Supplier” for a few days.
Using the MicroSIM cutter is pretty straight forward, just place your SIM card into the slot and ensure that the slanted edge matches and press the cutter handle down real hard!
Finally, SingTel now support MicroSIM cards in their MultiSIM plans, however the price is 2x more expensive the normal SIM cards and from the description on the VAS page under “Others” tab, it was mentioned that then can be only 1 MicroSIM card in any combination of MultiSIM.
So if you got 4 SIM cards, only 1 of them can be MicroSIM and the other 3 is normal SIM. Perhaps it is due to the initial hight stock demand. But I believed that it will change eventually once the dust has settle.
