My first scientific calculator was the Casio FX-992S which I bought it in Secondary 2 in 1998 when I was 14 years old. It lasted me through my secondary education, polytechnic education as well as my 2 years and 2 months in national service. It finally broke down during my 2nd year in university in 2007 just few hours before my exams! The calculator lasted me for 9 years! After it broke down, I borrowed my brother scientific calculator, he is also using the Casio FX-992S and he got it during his secondary school days. I predict it will have another 3 more years lifespan as he is going to national service soon if his calculator followed the timeline of my calculator.
I went to NUS Co-Op to see if there is any calculator to buy, to my surprise the FX-992S still exists! However there is another modal also from Casio called the “Natural Textbook Display” FX-991ES. I was contemplating between the both, the price difference is about S$3. End up I went for the good old trusted FX-992S for S$29.70.
This is the first time I was invited to a Samsung event, was invited by Daniel, the PR Manager for Samsung. Previously I did two reviews on Samsung products, one is the YP-K3 and the other is a VP-MX10. This event is called Samsung Touch Event. It is to let us have a touch and feel of those Samsung phones that are announced during MWC. The product marketing (mobile) manager, Winston said there about about 20+ phones Samsung phones that is being announced at MWC, but here in Singapore, they picked 7 to showcase to us.
The 7 phones are C3050, UltraB, UltraS, BeatDisc, BeatDJ, OmniaHD and the last phone which is the flagship product is the UltraTouch. They also announced 2 services, Share Pix and Online Widgets. The Share Pix is similar to Nokia’s Share On Ovi but in this case, the pictures are first uploaded to Samsung servers and then in turn the server will upload the pictures to the designated service that the user choose like Facebook or Friendster. The online widget is just an improved version of the famous Samsung Widgets that can be found in some Samsung phones. The online widget will allow you to retrieve RSS feeds as welll as create shortcut to websites.
Nokia E75
The E75 is the exact clone of E51 just that it includes a slide out full QWERTY keypad. Thickness wise, it is not much thicker and it sports a 3.2MP camera. It is mean to be a scaled down version of E71. But personally, I will choose E71 over this anytime!
Ordered my WordPress Olive Green T-Shirt from the WordPress Shop which is outsourced to Indigo Clothing. I placed my ordered on the 6th February 2009 and it was delivered to me yesterday, 14th February 2009, via Royal Airmail. It took about 12 days. Paid GBP£16.50 for it which is about S$35.80 including shipping. Hope to wear it during the Blogout’09 event.
Li Xiang baked butter cookies and cornflakes cookie for me as this year and I did a card for her (using computer) and got her a heart shape candy at Sticky. We exchanged gifts yesterday instead of today as today we were up early in the morning to attend her friend’s ROM at SAF Seaview Resort. It was a very isolated place and parking is really a problem due to the extremely limited parking space. After the ROM ceremony ended at about 3pm, we went to Orchard to take a walk. It was very crowded and I saw many LV and Gucci paper bags, looks like recession has not hit us hard yet or either the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. Saw Andy and his girlfriend at Lucky Plaza.
We have dinner at Tang Dian Wang at Hereen. It was my second time eating at Tang Dian Wang, the first was at Suntec. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable. I love the soup there!
